How to Crochet the Ashes Slouch

I love designing crochet items for women and sometimes children but thought it was time I offered something for men. You know, because they need things too!

I’d had this lovely skein of cream and black Lion Brand Scarfie yarn for a while but hadn’t been able to decide what to make with it.

Since the yarn already had different colors in it I chose to use just the one skein, keep it simple, but add a little texture, and voila! This lovely, soft and cozy slouch hat. Aimed at men but perfect for any adult!

Scroll on down for the free pattern, or, if you prefer a printer- friendly PDF copy is available for purchase in my RAVELRY and ETSY stores.

And don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to my e-mails list so I can let you know when I release new patterns.

I’d love to see photos of your finished project. Share them via Facebook , or on Instagram with @krazykabbage and #krazykabbage.

This soft and cozy hat offers the perfect balance of simplicity and texture.

Although it was designed as a men’s hat, this hat will look great on anyone.

Made with self striping yarn, the colors gently transition to give a subtle fading effect.

This hat is worked flat as one piece and is a simple repeating pattern. It’s easy and fun to make; it’s sure to be an enjoyable crochet project.

You are welcome to sell the items you make with this pattern, but please give me, Krazy Kabbage, a mention in your sales listing and provide a link to my website www.krazykabbage.com.

    1. Foundation single crochet. It makes the foundation chain and the first row at the same time. Great technique! There’s video tutorials on you tube 🙂

  1. I have never heard of the ash stitch before. The color lends itself to look masculine but with a different color way it could definitely be unisex!

  2. Love your designs and thank you so much for offering them to us. I am a senior citizen on fixed income and free patterns are so nice when I find one I really like. You are a blessing to all of us.
