Granny Square Style Baby Hat

This hat has a solid double crochet circle at the top with granny square shells on the sides. The brim is ribbed and finished off with a row of single crochet stitches. It should fit about a 6 month old and make a cute winter hat for a baby boy.
Hook Size: G/6 – 4.25mm
Yarn – Red Heart Super Saver in blue and soft white
Start with magic ring.
Rnd 1: Ch2, 11DC in ring and slip stitch in top of 1st DC, pull tail to close ring (12DC)
Rnd 2: Ch2, 1DC in same space then 2DC in each DC around, slip stitch to join (24DC)
Rnd 3: Ch2, *2DC in next DC, 1DC in next DC; rep from * around, slip stitch to join (36DC)
Rnd 4: Ch2, DC in next DC, *2DC in next DC, 1DC in each of next 2 DCs; rep from * around, slip stitch to join (48DC)
Rnds 5-10: Ch2, 2DC in same space, *skip 2DC, 3DC in next space; rep from *around, slip stitch to join (48DC)
Rnd 11: Using white yarn: Ch2, BPDC around each DC around, slip stitch to join (48DC)
Rnd 12: Continue with white: Ch2,  FPDC around next DC, DC in top of next DC around, slip stitch to join (48DC)
Rnd 13: Using blue: Ch 1, SC in top of each DC around, slip stitch and fasten off.
