How to Make a Cat Stitch Cat Hat

Ah! Cat stitch! I keep seeing amazing cat stitch sweaters, cat stitch scarves and cat stitch blankets. Being a cat lover I decided it was time to try out the cat stitch for myself!

Since it’s getting cold outside, I just knew I had to make a cozy cat-stitch cat hat for my cat-loving boyfriend!

Although I’ve seen lots of cat stitch items over last few years, this is the first time I’ve actually tried it. I found a video to get started:

Using the multiple of 5, I made the chain long enough to fit loosely around my boyfriend’s head. 85 chains. I followed along with the video until I got the hang of it. I used 3 colors: light gray, dark gray and denim blue.

I wanted the hat to fold over at the bottom to keep his forehead warm and have enough space at the top to form the cat ears. Although I planned to sew the diagonal lines to shape the ears, we chose to leave them open.
