This week I made a cute little bag for my water bottle so I can hang it on the stroller or carry is around my wrist.
I also wanted the bag to look fun and unique so, since I’ve been experimenting with sideways stripes and chevrons, I wanted to see how zig-zags would look.
For this project I used Lily Sugar n Cream cotton yarn and chose three colors that worked well together: white, beach glass and teal. It reminds me of cool, refreshing ocean waves.
Other colors would be great too. Maybe colors from the hiking trail or your favorite sports team.
This bag would also make the perfect gift bag for a bottle of wine.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my new pattern – scroll down for the free version or if you prefer I have a nice clean PDF available to buy via RAVELRY.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 around the base of the bag.

Join end of strap to opposite side of bag by slip stitching on inside of bag through last row of strap and last round of bag to complete handle. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Lovely design!
That’s a clever idea, I love the beachy feel with the blue waves too.
Hi, I love your zigzag design! However, I’m using milk cotton yarn with 3.5mm hook. I am lost as to how to increase the stitch count for the zigzag panel. I estimate that I’ll need to make 40 chains for the height of my bottle. Please advise on how I should increase the stitch count. Thank you!
Hi. Chain 42, then where you see ‘next 6’ in the pattern, do ‘next 9’ instead. See if this is the right height, if not let me know and I’ll help you adjust it. 🙂
It works! You’re a genius! Thank you! 😄
This is the exact pattern I need! My stroller cup holder isn’t very big and the plastic add on I bought snapped off in a week. I think I’ll add a button and end the handle in chain to act as a button hole to easily hang on and off my stroller.
