Easy Crochet Flower Pattern

Here is a little pattern for a simple yet elegant crochet flower. I’ve made this flower, and variations of it, many times.

I like to add them to my crochet hats as the perfect finish. If you are looking to make a hat to add this flower to check out my basic any size Beanie Hat pattern or my adult size Spiral Halloween Hat.

This flower will also make a great brooch or can be used as an embellishment for many other things.

Hook: H/8 – 5mm or I/9 – 5.5mm

RHSS in soft white for body of flower.
RHSS grape fizz for slip stich trim.
RHSS tea leaf green for leaves.

Using main color, chain 30.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hk. *Ch 2, skip next ch, sc in next. Rep from * across.

Row 2: Ch1 and turn. [3 hdc, ch 1, sl st] in ch 2 sp. [sl st, ch 1, 3 hdc, ch 1, sl st] in each of next 2 ch 2 spaces. *[sl st, ch 1, 4 hdc, ch 1, sl st] in next, [sl st, ch 1, 5 hdc, ch 1, sl st] in next. Rep from * across. Fasten off.

Using contrasting color. Join with sl st at opposite end of foundation chain. Sl st in 1st hdc and each st across. Fasten off.

Assembly: Use a 12″ piece of main color yarn and yarn needle. Attach to opposite end of foundation chain. Fold petals over and sew together along base of petals to form the flower.

Leaves:

*Ch 8, sl st in 2nd ch from hk, sc in next hdc in next, dc in each of next 2, hdc in next, sc in last. Rep from * to make two leaves. Fasten off leaving tail for sewing. Use yarn needles to sew leaves to back of flower.

Beads:

Use cotton thread and sewing needle to sew beads into center of flower.
