Ribbed Baby Booties Free Crochet Pattern

This week on my crocheting adventures I decided to have a go at designing some simple baby booties.

I recently bought some of the new Loops & Threads Wellness Baby yarn from my local Michael’s craft store.

I love how it’s hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and oder-free – perfect for making delicate little baby things.

Also, there are 12 beautiful colors to choose from.

I bought a few different colors but decided to go with the turquoise color for this sweet little unisex bootie design. Although they would look great in any color or you could even try two colors!

These booties will fit a 0-6 month old with the soles measuring 3.5 inches long by 2 inches wide.

The idea for these booties came from a more complex design idea I had – which I hope to produce in the near future.

Since I’ve never made any footwear before, let alone designed any, I knew it was best to start with something simple.

This pattern took a lot of frogging and reworking to get them just right, but I really love how they turned out.

I gave them a ribbed texture because I like that look and it’s a very popular crochet style at the moment.

The pattern I’ve written for these is very easy to follow and I hope you enjoy making them!

I’m also working on a matching hat and mittens so you will be able to make a whole baby gift set very soon!

This pattern is worked in the round with easy to follow instructions. They are simple and quick to work up. Matching hat and mitten patterns coming soon.

  3. Hi I have just been reading your pattern for the gorgeous baby boots. I understand how to use american terms, but the 5th row sales work on 3rd loop only I’m a bit lost on that. Hope you can enlighten me.

    1. Hi Ann. If you look at the top of the hdc stitches you should be able to see an extra loop behind. Roll the stitch forward a little and work into that 3rd loop so the top V of the stitch is pushed forward to create the ribbing effect. Hope this helps 🙂

  4. Thank ann wilding you so much it all makes sense now, brilliant pattern my friend is due a baby soon she will love these.

  5. first time i see your work by coincidence, and these are unique. never seen this style of booties with ribbing. i am making some outfits for my first great granddaughter who will be coming in about 2 months, and these gorgeous booties will be part of one of the outfits. thanks a lot for sharing from your heart. may you have more ideas each time you want to creat something different.

  7. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern, I’m sending a box to a prenatal center and making few of these. They’re turning out awesome!!

  8. Hi Kat. You are an answer to my prayer! I bought this yarn, a lot of it, at a very good price but found NO crochet patterns for infant sweaters, hats, mitts and booties out there. I’ve just completed re-writing patterns for a newborn crochet sweater, hat and thumbless mitts that originally called for DK. Yesterday, I started to re-write a bootie pattern for this yarn, and I was lamenting having to figure out how to do this. Voila! I found these ADORABLE booties, and I can’t wait to race home and start them. I will REALLY look forward to seeing your other patterns for this great yarn. Thanks so much, Kat.

  9. I adore your bootie pattern. I have been looking for a set of hat and booties. You say you also have a hat and mit pattern. Will you be publishing this pattern or could you email it to me. I look forward to your answer. Thanks

  10. I’m having trouble with the cuff. Is there a video by any chance? That would be super helpful. I’m not sure what the first line means and then there’s a 9 chain … what is that going to be? It’s just hard to wrap my head around.
