I love finding new crochet stitches to try and recently spent a lot of time mastering the diamond stitch.
I’d been wanting to try it out for a while, then when I started working on my Linked Hearts Messy Bun pattern, and needing to add some texture, I knew it was time to try it out. I also went on to make a beautiful infinity scarf to match.
The patterns are available here on my website so you can make them too! I’m sure they’ll make wonderful gifts this winter season.
Anyway, since I love discovering new stitches, and there are so many baby blankets out there, I went on the hunt and found these 20 amazing designs to share with you.

I love all the different colors and stitches in these blankets and they have varying difficulty levels so there’s something for everyone to try. My list starts out with a few different styles of granny squares, since they are a staple in blanket making.
Then, scroll down to find several blanket patterns with all different kinds of stitches. Towards the end there’s a color pooling blanket, a corner to corner, and a Tunisian crochet blanket.
I’ve put the links below the pictures so CLICK ON THE TITLE TO GO TO THE FREE PATTERN PAGE.
Also, I’ve made a Pin for each item so you can save your favorite to your Pinterest board.

First, I love the colors in this Rainbow Droplets Babyghan. It looks really fun and easy to make with the individual squares and the big rainbow border.

This granny square blanket looks really fun and would be great for using up small amounts of yarn. I think the off-set squares are really fun and that yarn looks beautiful! Along with the written pattern there is a video tutorial, lot of photos, and a schematic diagram.

Here’s a super easy granny square blanket. Great for beginners.

This blanket incorporates the pineapple cluster stitch and works from center outward. Color changing ‘cake’ yarn is used get the radiating stripes.

This beautiful cable blanket also uses self-striping cake yarn. I love the knit-look of the cables and I think it would be really fun to make.

This next one uses the V-stitch for a light and breathable texture. With it’s bold rainbow colors, I think it would make a perfect baby boy blanket.
Next we have some zig-zag blankets.

Hugs & Kisses blanket. I love all the fun features of this one – bobble and kiss stitches, zig-zags and it’s made using self-striping cake yarn. This one includes a video tutorial too.

Bobble stitch is also used to make this next one. I like the fun yet simple modern look.

This one uses the crunch stitch to create a beautifully soft and snuggly blanket.

Tulip stitch makes this simple yet elegant blanket.

This one uses kiss stitch and I really love the faded color transitions of the yarn.

This bright sports themed blanket used the corner to corner method. I like how it’s made of 4 individual squares which can be worked on one at a time.

Tunisian crochet is used to make this beautiful Marshmallow Twist Baby Blanket. Tunisian crochet is on my bucket list of things to try sometime.

Hi Kat, Thank you for adding my blanket in your roundup 🙂
Hello Kat! Thank you so much for adding my Sweet Dreams Babyblanket in you roundup <3
WOW!!!! Look at all these beautiful blankets and with so much texture. The color choices for each one are endless. Not to be a downer but I think the only one I wouldn’t make is the granny squares blanket. All those pesky ends and never ending seaming….I just don’t have the patience for, but it’s beautiful in it’s own way 🙂
