Halloween Boho Bag Free Crochet Pattern

This bag is made from 100% cotton yarn, a quick a fun crochet project. Line with orange satin or switch out the color to match your style.

Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton (medium weight; 100% cotton) in black 450 yards

You will need crochet hook size H/8 – 5mm and a yarn needle to weave in ends.

Gauge: 12 single crochet x 15 rows = 4″.

This pattern uses US terminology.

Stitches and Terms Used: Chain (ch), Single crochet (sc), Slip stitch (slst), Half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), Back post single crochet (bpsc)

Construction: The oval base of the bag is made first, then the panel, then to top section and straps. A simple lining is sewn into the bag.

START HERE

Start by chaining 27.

Rnd 1: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in each of next 24. 3 sc in last chain. Working on opposite side of foundation chain, sc in each of next 24. Sl st to join in top of first sc. (54)

Rnd 2: Ch 1. 2 sc in same and each of next 2. Sc in each of next 24. 2 sc in each of next 3. Sc in each of next 24. Sl st to join. (60)

Rnd 3: Ch 1. *[1 sc, 2 sc] 3 times. Sc in each of next 24. Rep from *. Sl st to join. (66)

Rnd 4: Ch 1. *[sc in next 2, 2 sc in next] 3 times. Sc in each of next 24. Rep from *. Sl st to join. (72)

Rnd 5: Ch 1. *[sc in next 3, 2 sc in next] 3 times. Sc in each of next 24. Rep from *. Sl st to join. (78)

Rnd 6: Ch 1. *[sc in next 4, 2 sc in next] 3 times. Sc in each of next 24. Rep from *. Sl st to join. (84)

Rnd 9: Ch 1. BPSC around. Sl st to join.

Rnd 10: [Ch 4, skip 2, sl stitch in next] around. 32 loops.

Rnd 11: Ch 1. [sc, hdc, dc, ch1, dc, hdc, sc] in each loop around.

Rnd 12: Sl st in top of 1st sc, sl st in hdc, sl st in dc. Sl st in ch 1 space. [Ch 4, sl st in next ch 1 space] repeat around.

Rnds 13-28: Repeat rounds 11 and 12 eight times.

Rnd 29: Ch 1. [sc, hdc, dc, ch1, dc, hdc, sc] in each loop around. (10 rows of shells)

Rnd 30: Sl st in top of 1st sc, sl st in hdc, sl st in dc. Sl st in ch 1 space. [Ch 3, sl st in next ch 1 space] repeat around.

Rnd 31: Ch 1. 3 sc in each ch space around. Sl st in top of first sc to join. (96 sc)

Rnd 32: Ch 1. BPSC around. Sl st to join.

Rnds 33-38: Ch 1. Sc in each around. Sl st to join.

Rnd 39: Ch 1. Sc in each of first 6. Ch 36, skip 36. Sc in each of next 12. Ch 36, skip 36. Sc in each of last 6. Sl st to join.

Rnd 40: Ch 1. Sc in each of first 6. 36 sc in chain space. Sc in each of next 12. 36 sc in chain space. Sc in each of last 6. Sl st to join.

Rnds 41-45: Ch 1. Sc in each around. Sl st to join. Fasten off and weave in tail.

Sew a lining into the bag.
