Round-Ups

Baby Gifts

I don’t know about you, but I love to crochet gifts for new babies.

There’s just something so personal and special about making an item especially for that new little life. Also, I find it cost effective since they usually don’t cost much to make while the sentimental value can be huge.

My personal favorite go to baby shower gift has always been little Amigurumi toys, if you check out my elephant ears free pattern page you can find a link to the free pattern I used to use all the time.

I decided not to include blankets in this post since there are so many wonderful designs to choose from it warrants a whole other post by itself; which I’ll likely do at a later date.

Also, I think blankets are the go to of many people and I thought you would find it helpful if I offered you some alternative ideas. Maybe you are tired of making blankets or are just short on time and want a small but equally delightful gift to give.

UPDATE: Baby Blankets round-up now available – check out these beautiful blankets with fun stitches to try.

All the patterns here are available for free. I’ve added the links to the photos so if you CLICK ON THE PICTURES it will take you to the pattern page, or to the Ravelry page where you will find a link to download the free PDF pattern file.

Baby Booties – so little and cute. Got to keep those little toes warm!

Loopy Love Booties

Diaper covers – I thought these sets were adorable!

Daisy diaper cover, hat and slippers set

Fox diaper cover and hat set

Diapers to cover (affiliate link) – Because babies need diapers and Swaddlers are my personal favorite for little bottoms.

I found this super cute little Owl Hat.

I thought these puzzle balls were fun. They look interesting to make and you could really go to town on the color choices.

Amish Puzzle Ball

Star Puzzle Ball

Lovies are also a great idea, I saw a lot of different animals but picked out this colorful Sleepy Bunny Lovey with it’s star shaped blanket.

I really love the texture of these Sheep. The pattern shows you details of how to add the fleece to the body. This is a pattern I’m really keen to try out myself since it looks like a fun challenge and sheep remind me of my home country – England where sheep are everywhere!

This Bunny Rabbit is super soft and adorable. Normally amigurumi animals are firm and not so cuddly, but the author wanted to make a cuddly soft one for her daughter so came up with this pattern. It really looks beautiful and super soft.

The pattern page includes photos of her daughter hugging the bunny so you can see it’s pretty big. She also made a test bunny out of regular yarn so you can see the comparison between the two – the results are quite different.

I thought these colorful Fishy Rattles looked really fun.

Teething keys (affiliate link) – my teething baby is loving chewing on these at the moment. My preschooler also loves to steal them since he needs them to drive his imaginary car!

I thought this Weather Mobile was a really fun idea and the baby would enjoy looking at the bright colors.

These Baby Bibs look fun to make and they’ll also be useful later on. Theres a lot of photos on the page of all the different color combos you could make with this pattern.

Also good for meal time (affiliate link):

  1. I love handmade items for babies ! At my baby shower I got a lot of crochet hats blankets and socks . I loved it because it wasn’t like anything store bought and it was more personal too. Great post !

  2. Unfortunately the pictures didn’t show up for me. In any case, my grandmother crocheted a hat for me that I took a picture in and my oldest daughter replicated that pictures. I now want my second daughter to take a similar picture with a hat crocheted by me. So I’m excited to do that project.

  3. I would love to learn to make some of these. The fox is my favorite. My cousin just had a baby… perfect timing for a gift idea 🙂
