I love working in spirals and learned how to start a crochet spiral a while ago.
I’ve made quite a few different styles of spiral hats and now I’ve figured out how to make the spiral into an egg shape for Easter.
This crochet spiral egg makes a cute kid-friendly Easter decoration. The kids can also play catch with them too.
Another idea I had was to fill a small plastic egg with dry rice, beans or lentils, embed inside the crochet egg so the egg will rattle.
The eggs can be made in a variety of colors for a cute and colorful decoration.

Here are some color ideas. I’ve written them in the order I joined them. So make the magic ring with the first color and join the other colors in the order they are listed.

Take your first colour of yarn and make a magic ring. 2 sc in ring. Using 2nd colour, join to the left of the first and make 2 sc in the ring. Push it up next to the first colour. Take the 3rd colour and join to the left of the 2nd colour, make 2 sc in the ring. Push it along. Take the 4th colour, join and make 2 sc in the ring. Gently pull the tail of the first colour to close the magic ring.
Rnd 2: Start with white and make 2 sc in each of the next 2 stitches. Pick up the 2nd colour and make 2 sc in each of the next 2 stitches. Repeat with the 3rd and 4th colours. You should now have 4 stitches of each colour (total 16 sc)
Rnds 3-5: 1 sc in each stitch (that’s 4 sc in each colour to maintain a total of 16 sc)
Rnd 6: [2 sc in the next sc, 1 sc in the next sc] twice for each colour (total 24 sc)
Rnds 7-9: 1 sc in each stitch (that’s 6 sc in each colour to maintain a total of 24 sc)
Rnd 10: [2 sc in the next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc] twice for each colour (total 32 sc)
Rnds 11-17: 1 sc in each stitch (that’s 8 sc in each colour to maintain a total of 32 sc)
Rnd 18: [Sc2tog, 1 sc in each of the next 2] twice for each colour (total 24 sc)
Rnd 19: [Sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc] twice for each colour (total 16 sc)
Check starting yarn tails inside top of egg are pulled tight then stuff your egg firmly.
Rnd 20: [Sc2tog] twice for each colour (total 8 sc)

Hi Kat; Your Spiral Easter Eggs are Awesome. I’ve never crocheted in spiral and can’t wait to try them. Thank you sooo much for sharing your beautiful patterns!
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy the pattern 🙂
These are so sweet, I love how they look together in the little nest/pot you’ve made for them. A lovely, ‘reusable over and over’ Easter decorating idea.
Thank you for sharing. I’m legally blind and see a little in each eye after an eye stroke. I love these little projects that I can do. I have been making items for the homeless and families in need of help. Keep a smile on that pretty face and know that you are helping so many. Thanks again, Mar
Thank you! What a clever idea. You are so talented….
